An engineer designing a new high school for the Wilkes-Barre Regional school district in Wilkes-Barre, PA was intent on incorporating digital mixing stations. He arrainged for a BASyC® lunch and learn session through his local Acorn ConTrols® representative. This meeting convinced him to shift away from the Leonard Nucleus system he had been considering and he wrote his spec around the BASyC system. The reason for his change of heart was simple: he felt that the BASyC system was simply better. As he worked with the Acorn ConTrols® team to discuss various design options and select the right mixing valve size, he downshifted to a non-digital system due to budgetary concerns. But he remained within the Acorn ConTrols® product line and specified eight systems for three reasons:

  1. A single Command Station® system can include both Master Mixing and Emergency Tempering capability, including completely isolated return piping with accessories and a recirculation pump for each temperature zone.
  2. A Command Station system can be upgraded to a digital BASyC system for a minimal cost and labor outlay, keeping options open
  3. Only Acorn ConTrols® systems allow digital upgrades of dual-temperature (Master Mixing/Emergency) systems as well as single-temperature systems.

Our combination Master Mixing and Emergency tempering station is the first in the industry. Even if we discount or many other design and performance advantages, this alone virtually ensured us an order for 8 Command Station systems with no serious competitive challenge. Additionally, it leaves the door open for a BASyC upgrade order in the future, again with no serious competitive challenge.
