York Memorial Hospital

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

A Pennsylvania engineer, already familiar with "The Brain" system from Armstrong and a fan of the Intellistation from Powers, encountered the Acorn ConTrols® BASyC® system while designing an expansion to York Memorial Hospital, a unit of Pinnacle Health.

The hospital already had four "Brains" installed, which would seem to make that system a shoo-in for the expansion. But when the design engineer encountered the BASyC digital mixing valve and monitoring system, he realized, "The BASyC system is a superior solution."

The open architecture and low cost customization offered with a BASyC system was fundamental in swaying him from the competitor systems he already knew. "I'm excited to get a BASyC system into one of my projects and make it my standard going forward," he told us.

The design engineer offered the BASyC system as the solution in a presentation to the head of plumbing for York Memorial Hospital. Upon seeing the presentation, the facility engineer told the design engineer, "This is the digital mixing solution I want going forward. Proprietary systems [all competing products] are now unacceptable."

The result? A large order for a BASyC system with capacity redundancy and automatic pump alternating controlled by the system to a user-selectable time cycle (7, 30, 60, or 90 days) plus an "activate anytime" pump alternation and automatic cycle suspend capability. No other product could complete—and the engineer's spec on his next three projects will have the same pump control requirements, all but guaranteeing he will select the BASyC system again and again.
